Farha Noor is currently pursuing her doctoral degree in Modern South Asian Languages and Literatures at the University of Heidelberg. Her doctoral project has been funded by the DFG-funded Research Cluster "Otium" at the University of Freiburg, where she has worked as research scholar/Wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin. She has obtained her M. Phil and M. A. degrees from the Centre for English Studies at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, and her B. A. (with Honours) in English Literature from Calcutta University. While her doctoral thesis engages with a literary history of concepts and emotions of leisure, idleness, and indolence in the Indian subcontinent, Noor's research interests include Global Intellectual History, Global Modernity, History of Emotions, Temporalities, Archipelagic Memory, Postcolonial Environment Studies, Genre and Gender.
