According to an opinion poll by YouGov from 21 January 2025, 55% of Britains now think it was wrong for the UK to leave the European Union. Asked how they feel about Brexit five years after it happened, only 11% of respondents saw it as more of a success than a failure, while about 30% say it was right to leave the EU. In addition, a vast majority (75%) of young people, aged 18-24 years, who were not allowed to vote at the time of the Brexit referendum in 2016, think that Britain should not have left the EU. Only 10% of this demographic think it was the right decision. Moreover, a majority of the public wants the country to have a closer relationship with the EU and 55% are even in favour of rejoining the EU.
